Dewan's Road is located on the western side of the city center. Other important roads like the Devaraj Urs Road, Vinobha Road and the Chamaraja Double Road connect with it.[1][2]Dewans Road begins from the back of Cheluvambra Hospital near Sapna Bookstall. It passes the western side of the Freedom Park and terminates near the eastern side of the R.T.O.Circle.

History[edit]
The origin of the Dewans Road dates back to the time of the king of Mysore. After independence, this historic road was neglected for some and became unhygienic in repair. A makaerover was introduced in 2016 with paintings and portrains of eminent persons. Artists from CAVA (Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts) contributed to this change. A tower clock is also being made here.[3]

State Highway 17 (SH-17) is a state highway connecting the cities of Bangalore and Mysore in the south Indian state of Karnataka. The highway has a total length of 149 kilometres (93 mi). It was built and maintained by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited and inaugurated in 2003. The highway passes through the towns of Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur, Mandya and Srirangapatna (Seringapattinam), before entering Mysore. The road is dual carriageway and passes over the Kaveri river.[1] The 15 km stretch from Bangalore Central to Kengeri NICE Road Junction is known as Mysore Road.
The 62 kilometres (39 mi) Bangalore-Maddur section was upgraded under build-operate-transfer (Annuity) basis by a consortium of NCC Infra and Maytas Infra.[2][3][4] The 49 kilometres (30 mi) Maddur-Mysore stretch was upgraded by Soma under an EPC contract.[4][5][6]
Bengaluru-Mysore highway is being upgraded to 6 lane and given status of 'NH-275' .
